What a privilege to explore INTERNI MATERIAE with our association during Milan Design Week. Hosted in the magnificent courtyards of the Università degli Studi di Milano, the exhibition is a journey through matter in all its forms: metal, aluminium, wood, compressed recycled paper, each telling a story about where design is heading.
A highlight: Sony's installation showcasing recycled compressed paper as an emerging material, soon to hit the market. A reminder that innovation and sustainability can be genuinely beautiful.
We wandered through Uniqlo's flowing, atmospheric space alongside visitors of all ages, some stopping to add their own words and thoughts to pieces making the exhibition literally co-authored by its audience.
Then the unexpected encounters. Sanlorenzo is bringing the world of luxury yachting into the exhibition space, a quiet but powerful statement about how boat-making and product design share the same obsession with materials, craft, and form. Pasquale Bruni's jewellery pieces are nearby, where wearable art joined the broader conversation on materiality. Different worlds, one dialogue.
And that's perhaps the deepest takeaway from this edition: Milan Design Week is not only a creative event, it's an economic one. The presence of major companies across industries is a reminder that investment, financial, and cultural, is what gives design its real momentum and reach.
We were lucky to have curator Carlo Biasia guide us through the vision behind MATERIAE, accompanied by project manager Ana Mirena. Their passion for the project was palpable at every step.
